FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A home inspection is a very thorough process, and naturally you may have some questions regarding the service. Below are a few of the common questions that we get, along with thorough answers to help you better understand what we do and the importance of home inspections.

A home inspection is the evaluation of the condition of a home you are considering purchasing. It includes all the visible systems which keep a home safe, comfortable, and economical. This includes the physical structure (foundation, roofing, fireplace, etc.) and critical systems (plumbing, heating, electricity, etc.) with special attention to water penetration and wood rot. A full written report is prepared and presented on site at the conclusion of the inspection.

A professional inspection reduces the risk on the largest single investment most people will ever make: their home. You should know exactly what to expect – both indoors and out – in terms of repair and maintenance. After the inspection, you will have a far clearer understanding of what you are about to purchase, and you will be able to make an informed decision with complete confidence.

Unfortunately, no one can guarantee you a perfect home. The home inspection is simply an examination into the current condition of your prospective home. It will highlight any issues that are in need of immediate attention or may require major repair or replacement in the future. It’s the process of learning everything about your potential home and being aware of all potential issues that could affect its value or security.

Down Home Inspections is owned and operated by Robert Chenette and is not affiliated with any Real Estate office, bank, or mortgage company. His experience includes over twenty-five years in the construction inspection field. He has attended numerous seminars and continues to learn through professional improvement courses and conferences, which provide him with state of the art knowledge in his field.

Either you, an attorney, or a real estate representative can contact Down Home Inspections to schedule a home inspection. We can usually arrange to inspect a property within 24-48 hours of the request. The site inspection requires approximately 3 hours and we recommend you accompany Robert during the inspection. Consider Robert your construction consultant. As you walk through the home Robert will point out any potential issues he may see and explain their risk to you. He will also explain equipment operation, preventative maintenance techniques, and is there to answer any of your general questions regarding the home you are looking at.
